Care Guide

CHORÉL Care Guide

All CHORÉL jewelry is thoughtfully designed in Copenhagen and meticulously crafted by hand. To keep your pieces looking radiant year after year, follow these care recommendations tailored to our sterling silver, gold-plated, and vermeil collections.

1. When Wearing

Avoid abrasion: Take off your jewellery before engaging in activities that could scratch or bend delicate parts (e.g. sports, gardening).

Shield from moisture: Remove rings, bracelets, and necklaces before showering, washing hands, swimming, or exercising - exposure to water, sweat, and chlorine can accelerate tarnish and wear.

Mind your cosmetics: Apply lotions, perfumes, hairsprays, and makeup before putting on your jewellery. Chemicals in cosmetics can dull finishes and damage plating.

Gentle handling: Open and close clasps, hooks, and earring backs with care - avoid yanking or pulling on chains and fine links, which can weaken soldered joints.

2. When Storing

Dry, cool environment: Keep your jewellery away from humidity and direct sunlight. Bathrooms and heated rooms are not ideal storage spots.

Separate pieces: Store each item individually - use soft pouches or the CHORÉL jewellery box - to prevent scratching and tangling.

3. Cleaning & Polishing

Regular gentle polish: Wipe pieces after each wear with a clean, dry, cotton or microfiber cloth to remove oils and light surface dirt.

Sterling silver: If tarnished, immerse in a silver-cleaning bath per the manufacturer’s instructions, then buff thoroughly with a soft polishing cloth.

Gold plating & vermeil: Avoid silver dips - these will strip gold finishes. Instead, gently clean with a mild soap solution, rinse in lukewarm water, and pat dry. Polish lightly with a dry cloth.

4. Special Care for Gold Vermeil

CHORÉL’s vermeil pieces features a thick layer of 18K gold bonded over 925 sterling silver - offering enduring shine when treated properly:

Limit friction: Remove vermeil rings and bracelets before activities that cause rubbing (e.g., typing, lifting).

Avoid harsh chemicals: Keep away from bleach, alcohol-based solutions, and abrasive cleaners.

5. Replating & Professional Maintenance

Over time - even with ideal care - surface treatments and plating will naturally wear. To restore your jewelry original luster:

Replating: Visit a trusted jeweller to have worn plating renewed. CHORÉL uses 3 microns of gold plating for durability, but expert replating will bring back the showroom finish.

Repairs: For resizing, soldering, or intricate fixes, always seek professional service to preserve structural integrity and aesthetics.

With consistent attention and proper upkeep, your CHORÉL pieces will retain their beauty and become cherished heirlooms for years to come. Enjoy wearing your jewellery every day, knowing it’s cared for with the same craftsmanship that created it.
